I am trying to set up a presentation so that the presenter can interactively choose to display certain "show me more" information about several items displayed on the slide. This way they can either change the order of what to show during the presentation, or skip certain elements completely.

I believe I can get this functionality by setting up individual slides with the information and having the hyperlinked buttons used to navigate from one to the other, but then that defeats the intuitive previous/next navigation that comes with the default interface as I may not want to step from slide 4 to slide 5, for example, but instead to slide 9 (because slides 5-8 are being used to display these dynamic items).

Is there a way to do this, like configuring a hyperlink to jump to a specific animation build, or by redefining the previous/next buttons on the standard interface to jump to a specific slide instead of just -1/+1?

We don't exactly have a feature that does this currently. You would have to link to slides outside of the presentation. We have a request for this feature in our user voice. If you would like to vote for it please click here
